New Grenland Bridge

The new Grenland Bridge is a cable-stayed bridge with a single tower, featuring a main span of 330 meters and a total length of 606 meters. The bridge is part of the E18 Rugtvedt - Langangen stretch. The new Grenland Bridge is located parallel to the old one and will help address the traffic challenges in Porsgrunn.

The design of the new Grenland Bridge is being carried out by SYSTRA, on behalf of the general contractor EIFFAGE Génie Civil. Norconsult is performing third-party control of the design.

The main span of the cable-stayed bridge is constructed as a box girder with an orthotropic deck. The viaduct in the south is built as a composite box girder. The towers are 149 meters high and made of concrete. The cable stays are constructed as cables of parallel strands anchored in the rock in the north. The stretch is planned to be opened in 2025.
