Nordic Office of Architecture has been appointed as architect and lead consultant for an indoor swimming pool and housing project located in Beauvaisgrunden.
It is the Municipality of Copenhagen that is behind the realisation of the project, which includes a new swimming pool and new housing on the Beauvais grounds.
Nordic Office of Architecture Danmark A/S, a wholly owned subsidiary of Norconsult ASA, is appointed as architect and lead consultant for the project. Nordic`s revenue share of the project is estimated to NOK 50 million.
Enriches the area
"After a successful tender process, we have chosen a lead consultant for the project. The winner of the tender is an experienced team, led by Nordic Office of Architecture as lead consultant. We look forward to further cooperation with them in creating a unique urban building with housing accommodations located above a new indoor swimming pool. The project, with its unique qualities, will undoubtedly transform and enrich the area, providing a recreational zone for the local population," the City of Copenhagen comments in a press release.
The former industrial area of Beauvaisgrunden is currently undergoing a three staged development process to accommodate a new urban housing area. Nordic Office of Architecture, in collaboration with housing company Lejerbo, has previously realised 69 public rental homes as a first step in the development.
Close cooperation
The project with a new indoor swimming pool and new housing accommodation will be developed in close cooperation with the City of Copenhagen. This enables Nordic to influence sustainable choices from an early project stage, by using various prioritisations and design tools.
"We are proud that the City of Copenhagen has awarded us this important project. We look forward to sharing our expertise in both indoor swimming pools, residential construction, and sustainability, and to create a welcoming and well-functioning urban building for the citizens of Copenhagen," says Thomas Bolding Rasmussen, EVP Norconsult Denmark.
Afry, OBH, Teknologisk Institut and D+O are involved as sub-consultants on the project.
