The Norwegian Public Roads Administration (Statens vegvesen) is responsible for the independent design review and approval of bridges, ferry quays, and other load-bearing structures on national and county roads. To ensure sufficient capacity to carry out this work, Statens vegvesen has awarded several consultancy firms, including Norconsult, framework agreements.
Number one for concrete bridges
The entire framework agreement has an estimated value of between NOK 200 and 300 million over a period of four years, with the independent design review of concrete bridges constituting by far the largest part of the framework agreement.
Norconsult was ranked first for concrete bridges and second for steel bridges and wooden bridges, following an evaluation where competence accounted for 70 per cent and price for 30 per cent.
