Ambitious Import Goals for Hydrogen and Ammonia Under REPowerEU

The REPowerEU plan sets a goal to import 10 million tons of renewable hydrogen annually by 2030, supplementing the EU’s domestic production of an equal amount. 

Additionally, the plan aims to import 4 million tons of hydrogen in the form of ammonia each year by 2030, which translates to approximately 20 million tons of ammonia. These imports are essential for supporting the EU’s broader hydrogen objectives and industrial sectors such as steel-making

 

Power-to-X Optimization Framework

Norconsult leverages its proprietary Power-to-X optimization framework to determine nameplate capacities for power production and plant configurations, using wind and solar data. By optimizing the solar and wind energy mix, we ensure a consistent power profile for the production facilities, focusing on minimizing production variance to reduce curtailment and avoid costly over-dimensioning. Our aim is to effectively select concepts, aligning with market demands and equipment constraints. Comprehensive energy balance evaluations and advanced site-specific studies optimize solar and wind configurations.
